Most people support whichever cause first grabs their attention or has affected their loved ones. The challenge with this approach is that you might focus on an area that is not as big, not as overlooked, or not as easy to make progress on. You are also more likely to stumble across problems that already receive a lot of attention, which can make them lower impact.
Race for Impact exists to channel your effort where evidence shows it can do the most good. Some effective interventions deliver 10 to 100 times more impact per donation than others.
