Why are many of the current charities based in Africa?

Updated over 2 months ago

Our role is to direct funds where they can do the most good. Today, the strongest evidence for effective interventions sits in low-income settings, particularly sub-Saharan Africa. Disease burdens are higher, proven interventions are more affordable, and the impact per donation is often 10 to 100 times greater than in higher-income countries.

Our independent evaluators select organisations based on evidence and effectiveness, not geography. As organisations in other regions clear the same bar, we will consider adding them to our funds.
